Personality Theories Matrix
Theory Assumptions Reliability Validity Application Social Cognitive Theory- Bandura Plasticity which is recognized as one of the most important human characteristics allows people to choose various behavior patterns depending upon the situational context. People can control their lives through a triadic reciprocal causation model which consists of behavioral, environmental and personal components. People can influence the quality of their lives. The higher the individualââ¬â¢s self-efficacy is, the higher his/her chances for success are. Banduraââ¬â¢s social cognitive theory can be regarded as reliable. It is based on the two reliable components, including the accurate observation theoretical speculations. Banduraââ¬â¢s theoretical speculations are well-developed but not overdistanced from his empirical observations. Thus, placing his assumptions only one step in front of his observations, making his social cognitive theory reliable. Banduraââ¬â¢s social cognitive theory can be regarded as valid disregarding certain weak points of the self-efficacy part. Thus, Bandura claims that the choice of a behavioral pattern and the efforts made for achieving certain goals depend upon the individualââ¬â¢s belief in following success. Further research of particular components of this assumption could result in falsification of this part. Muammar Gadaffi is known as one of the longest-ruling leaders in the world with the 42 years of ruling the Lybian Arab Republic since the military coup on 1 September 1969. Ban duraââ¬â¢s social cognitive theory can be implemented for explaining certain episodes of this motivated and charismatic person as well as the preconditions for the heights which he achieved on his life path.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Personality Theories Matrix specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More A triadic reciprocal causation model can be useful for explaining th e combination of Gadaffiââ¬â¢s personal and behavioral characteristics and the environmental context as the cluster of influential factors which allowed him not only to get the power, but also maintain it for 42 years and contribute to the development of the country. On the one hand, organizing the military coup and becoming its leader can be defined as a fortuitous event in his life. On the other hand, these were his personal traits of a leader and a strategist as well as his courage which allowed Muammar to get the power. Self-efficacy was another influential factor which allowed Gadaffi to make responsible decisions for his country. His success required strong faith in his own abilities and talents. Though becoming a leader of a country requires certain favorable situational context, Gadaffi believed in his power to rule the country and take the responsibility for the destinies of the whole nation. For instance, in 1981 Gadaffi invalidated the US passports for travel in Lybia because he was insulted by Reagan. It caused the American ban or the import of Lybian oil. This situation can be viewed through the lens of a triadic reciprocal causation model because it was not only situational context but also Gadaffiââ¬â¢s personal qualities that triggered the political decision of this charismatic leader. Research Essay Three Stories Essays
Research Essay Three Stories Essays Research Essay Three Stories Essay Research Essay Three Stories Essay The three short stories that Iââ¬â¢ve read ââ¬Å"Hills Like White Elephantsâ⬠ââ¬Å"Black Man And White Woman in a Dark Green Boatâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Good Peopleâ⬠were all captivating stories. All three stories where written by different authors. The short stories all dealt with various life situation the anyone could relate to and understand. The short story ââ¬Å"Hills Like White Elephantsâ⬠, written by: Ernest Hemingway is cast in a bar setting. This story is also written in third person and the writing style can almost be converted into a play. I believe the author did a great job painting to picture of for his audience, but to me it lacked real substance. Especially when being compared to ââ¬Å"Black Man and White Woman in a Dark Green Boatâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Good Peopleâ⬠. The plot in this story is not clear especially with quotes like (ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢ll go with you and Iââ¬â¢ll stay with you all the time. They just let the air in and then its all pe rfectly natural. Then what will we do afterward? We will be fine afterward. Just like we were before. What makes you think so? Thatââ¬â¢s the only thing that bothers us. Itââ¬â¢s the only thing that makes us unhappyâ⬠E. Hemingway Pg. 225). The topic in this story was not clear to me. You have to rely on the narrator to figure it out. The short story ââ¬Å"Black Man and White Woman in Dark Green Row Boatâ⬠by: Russell Banks is the best story out of all three short stories. This story is set in a trailer park in Northern New England near the beach. The symbolism thatââ¬â¢s use to clue you in to what this story is about is the title itself ââ¬Å"Black Man and White Woman in Dark Green Row Boatâ⬠. The author intentionally describes the gender and nationality of the characters in the title which helps guide the reader to the main topic of the story. Also there are lines such as (ââ¬Å"Actually, mother was a lot better than I expected her to be. If Daddy were alive it would be dif

Marriage and Divorce Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
Marriage and Divorce - Essay Example In order to rescue the relationship and reconnect with oneââ¬â¢s partner, then it is imperative to get real about it and be totally honest with oneself. To reconnect with a partner, one has to reconnect first with him or herself. The journey starts with you rather than with oneââ¬â¢s partner and one has to take the power back, becoming a person who inspires respect, commands quality, and settles only for abiding and active love. To proceed without acknowledging that the fix is dependent on you is a guarantee for failure. Troubled relationships arise when individuals allow themselves to accommodate disappointment, pain and self-destructive attitudes. The individual thus has to reclaim their strength, uplift the people around them and inspire them, through strength of calm and quiet power backed by self-worth and dignity. Troubled relationships do not have victims; the individual set the relationship up in that way. Without adopting a lifestyle that is built to maintain it, it is not possible to carry out a long-term fractured relationship. Dysfunctional relationships with a partner come from a dysfunctional relationship with oneself. While it is impossible to control a partner, it is possible to inspire them and give them a fresh set of stimuli to respond. To emphasize this, an individual, has to make an effort to fix them first before fixing the relationship. There are seven steps to a relationship rescue. Firstly, it concerns definition and diagnosis of where oneââ¬â¢s relationship stands at present since it is impossible to change what is not acknowledged. Secondly, the individuals need to forget the myths and rid themselves of wrong thinking. Third, discover negative behaviors and attitudes, as well as the specific ways, which irreparably harms relationships with oneself. Fourth, one needs to internalize personal relationship values that form the new foundation of relationship life. Fifth, learn the formula that aids successful relationships, which is only possible after the first four steps. Sixth, the individual begins the process of reconnection, and finally, they learn how to manage relationships on reconnecting with the partner. Defining the Problem To do this, an individual, needs to decipher what they have done wrong and right, in that relationship, to drive it to the current position (McGraw, 2000). Correct acknowledgement of the plan is vital if one is to make the correct plans to alleviate it. It is important that an individual admit to emotional divorce, as well as relationships that are killing them, their self-value, and worth. The questions that need to be asked include; is one of the partners dumping his or her life frustrations that have nothing to do with the relationship on the other partner? Have you been parents for a considerable amount of time that you forget what being lovers and friends allude to? Have you forgotten how to pay each other attention? Do you have sex any longer? Has anything happened to yo ur levels of intimacy? Are you distant and cold to your partner as a result of old disagreements? Are you a family with two income streams that have not time for the other? Is there tension arising from a previous extra-marital affair by one of the partners? The book contains a detailed self-questionnaire that allows one to create a personal and relationship profile. The book then details five questions that are meant to crystallize the profile of the relationship. First, considering that one definition of love is considering the wellbeing and security of your partner as significant as yours, would you claim that you love your partner? Using this same definition, does your partner love you and why? Knowing the details
